A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

I was familiar with the play that 1967's Best Picture was based on, having been cast in a college production of A Man For All Seasons. I thought the movie did a wonderful job of transitioning the tale from stage to film. The cinematography captured the grandeur of the tale well, and the acting was superb. The film won a total of 6 Oscars, including Best Actor for lead Paul Scofield. Though not an award winner, I thought Orson Welles's cameo was a standout.

This is another timely biopic, telling the story of Sir Thomas More during the 1530s in England. It's a true tale that lays bare the dangers to individual liberties that occur when religion becomes entwined with politics.
