"So, my New Year commitment for 2020 is to watch every film that has won the "Best Picture" Oscar, that I haven't seen already. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that the total is 59 of them... out of 91 total. This afternoon I spent time with Shirley, Debra, and Jack.
Gotta say, for all the talk about "the feud" between Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine, I expected them to share more screen time. The pacing seemed rather forced, and there was not much character development, but it was an enjoyable ride and I got to release a couple tears! 58 to go!!
It was a fairly innocuous post, but I had many friends who requested I keep posting after each movie so they could follow along. From there, I began turning my film journey posts into mini-reviews.
Little did I know that just four months after embarking on this project, the world would enter into a global shutdown. The COVID-19 pandemic would give me much more time at home than I had been accustomed to. In a way, my 2020 resolution ended up being a much-needed coping mechanism for the isolation that the pandemic would bring. I also discovered that I had a passion for writing, a passion I was previously unaware of.
Whether I'm a good writer, well, I will leave that up to those of you who find this blog! Over the next month or so, I'm going to move my reviews-to-date from FaceBook over here. Beginning in 2024, this will be my primary location for continued commentary on all things related to my burgeoning passion for motion pictures!
If you have found your way here, I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to comment. All thoughts, appreciation, and criticisms are welcome!
